In 2011, Blaster Bill was bitten by the Adventure Touring bug.  After riding many fun-filled, joyful adventure rides around the country, he decided an adventure ride was needed in his home state of South Dakota.
The concept is an 900 mile loop through western South Dakota.  The loop ride concept provides no backtracking of previously ridden terrain and you eventually end just where you started.  Convenient starting/ending points are: Edgemont, Hot Springs, Hill City, Custer, Savoy, Belle Fourche, Buffalo and Sturgis.  This route provides an immense diversity of riding surfaces and visual delights.

The inaugural ride with 21 riders from around the country was completed on July 12, 2013.  The DakAL received rave reviews from all riders and left them wanting more.

The final GPS tracks and other route information are ready for your use.

All I ask is that you ride responsibly, stay the trail, and be a great ambassador of our sport and passion.

Since the inception in 2013, the tracks have been available for free with hopes that donations would support the project.  Sadly donations have been lagging.  We receive less the $1 for each rider of the DakAL.  Consequently, starting in April 2020, a contribution of $58 will be needed to obtain the tracks.  These funds will insure the DakAL continues and will also support the other trail building initiatives of the Trail Stewards.

If you want to keep this going, donate to the cause.

The DakAL will take you to or near many breathtaking visual treats, historic sites and natural wonders.
